Frequently Asked Questions
Can I extract specific pages?
Yes. Use Range mode and enter something like 1,3,5-8.
Is my PDF uploaded?
No. Everything runs locally with pdf-lib.
How do I specify a page range?
Use comma-separated page numbers and hyphens for ranges. For example, "1,3,5-8" extracts pages 1, 3, 5, 6, 7, and 8. Do not include spaces around commas or hyphens.
Can I split a PDF into equal halves?
Yes. Use Range mode and run two separate operations — for example "1-5" to get the first half and "6-10" for the second. Download each result separately.
What happens to bookmarks after splitting?
Bookmarks and internal links that reference pages within the extracted range are preserved where possible. Bookmarks pointing to pages outside the extracted set are removed from that output file.
Is there a maximum number of pages?
There is no enforced page limit. Very large PDFs — hundreds of pages or tens of megabytes — may take a few extra seconds to process in the browser, but will complete successfully.
Can I extract only odd or even pages?
Yes, but there is no automatic odd/even selector. Manually enter all odd or even page numbers in the range field — for example "1,3,5,7,9" for the first five odd pages.
Does splitting reduce image or text quality?
No. Splitting is a purely structural operation — pdf-lib relocates page objects without re-encoding any images, fonts, or text. The output pages are bit-for-bit identical to the corresponding pages in the original PDF.
